MRA - Magnetic Resonance Angiography

Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) is used when a physician needs to examine the blood vessels in an area of the body, such as the brain, lungs, heart, neck, abdomen, legs, pelvis or kidneys.

Angiography is performed using:

  • X-rays with catheters
  • CT scanning
  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)

In some cases, a contrast material is used to produce pictures of major blood vessels in the body. If needed, the contrast material is usually injected using a vein in the arm.

Results

When the exam is complete, each patient receives a CD containing the images of the exam. Your doctor will receive a complete report typically by the next business day.
