Exclusively at Premier MRI physicans can choose MRI testing using the Portal Gravity System which simulates an upright position by placing an axial load on the spine during the routine MRI imaging. Available in Southfield and Clinton Township.

Approved by the FDA 501(k), clinical studies have shown the Portal Gravity System, which uses conventional MRI exams to scan patients in the recumbent position thus negates the effects of gravity on the spine.  It places an axial load on the spine during routine imagining procedures.  This simulates the upright position providing additional valuable information and may revewal occult pathology and shows the true severity of the problem.

Following are three studies, which provide clinical rationale for the use of portal gravity load:

• Dynamic Effects on the Lumbar spinal Canal: Axially Loaded CT-Myelography and MRI in Patients with Sciatica and/or Neurogenic Claudication.
• Study Presented at the 2002 American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) 40th Annual Meeting and Symposium.
• Axial Loading During MR Imaging Can Influence Treatment Decision for Symptomatic Spinal Stenosis.
